BC Lions play-by-play voice Bob ‘The Moj’ Marjanovich has turned his Super Bowl radio stint into a recruiting journey, offering the former NFL All-Pro punter turned new-age media shock jock Pat McAfee a chance to retire in the CFL.
After an interview for his podcast Moj on sport, Marjanovich presented the ultra-popular sports personality with a personalized Lions No. 1 jersey as part of an unofficial offer.
“The Canadian Football League recognizes your talent and in honor of that the BC Lions are going to sign you to a one day contract,” Marjanovich said. “Your Canadian rights have been asserted and you will retire from the CFL as a BC Lion.”

McAfee, who last played in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts in 2016, was thrilled with the offer, launching into an Oscar-style thank you.
“It’s an absolute honor, a dream come true. I would like to say thank you to my mother, I would like to say thank you to my father, obviously they have a lot to do with my existence,” he said, in a form “The side of home I hit balls against for hours and hours because I had ADD, to create that leg that inevitably got blown in the NFL.”
In the past, McAfee has toyed with the idea of making a comeback with one of the many spring football leagues, but he’s unlikely to give up his media empire for a shot in the CFL. Nonetheless, McAfee sees some value in the idea as a bettor.
“Now that I have the chance to retire as a BC Lion and be selected by the BC Lions, it’s a dream come true. Honestly, now that I’m an international ball kicker, I feel like I’m going to have a lot more confidence,” he added. “I know punts can score points, I don’t know if I’ll ever get there, but it’s good to be in a position maybe once on the stat sheet.”
McAfee has drawn the ire of CFL fans in the past for calling the league “fair football”, a nickname he has since insisted was a compliment given his incredible love of football. state fairs. He has publicly declared the league dead following the cancellation of the 2020 season, but has since praised the league for getting back on the field when the XFL couldn’t.
Three-a-side league seems a perfect fit for the man who popularized the idea that bettors are people too, and we’re looking forward to the fake Aussie accent McAfee will use to try and enter the field.
